International Consultant – Communications

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ethiopia seeks an experienced communications professional to support its Media and Communications Unit. The consultant will create high‑quality content, manage digital platforms, and enhance IOM’s visibility on migration and humanitarian issues.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, edit and produce press releases, human‑interest stories, social media posts, newsletters and reports.
• Coordinate media relations, including preparing press materials and supporting high‑level visits.
• Update IOM Ethiopia’s website and social media channels with timely, accurate information.
• Organise events, campaigns and outreach activities, ensuring proper documentation, branding and visibility.
• Liaise with graphic designers to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines.
• Monitor media coverage and prepare regular impact reports.
• Provide communications capacity‑building support to IOM staff and partners.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with international organizations or NGOs.
• Proven ability to draft and edit content for diverse audiences.
• Excellent written and verbal English; other languages may be assessed.

Required skills

• Proficiency with digital communication tools and content management systems.
• Videography and photography skills.
• Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite – Premiere Pro, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
