Internship in Macroeconomic Analysis & Economic Governance

About the role

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is seeking an intern to support the Macroeconomic Analysis, Institutions and Economic Governance Section (MIGS) within the Macroeconomics and Governance Division. The role offers a three‑month placement (extendable to six months) in Addis Ababa, providing exposure to research, policy analysis and UN‑level economic governance work.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyse topics related to sustainable economic development, governance, planning and poverty reduction across Africa.
• Prepare inputs for, edit and proofread publications, papers and other UN documents.
• Liaise with division stakeholders and assist in organising meetings, events and outreach activities.
• Support day‑to‑day operational tasks such as information requests, presentation development and partner coordination.

Required profile

• Enrolled in the final year of a bachelor programme, a master’s or Ph.D. programme, or holder of a completed degree in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated interest in United Nations work and commitment to the UN Charter.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
