Laboratory Manager

About the role

The Laboratory Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operations of Qualitek Labs’ testing facility in Addis Ababa. Reporting to senior management, you will ensure that all analytical work is performed accurately, safely and in compliance with internal and external standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily laboratory activities, scheduling staff and assigning tasks to meet turnaround targets.
• Maintain, calibrate and verify laboratory equipment to guarantee reliable results.
• Monitor inventory of reagents and consumables, placing orders as needed.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Review and approve test reports before delivery to clients.
• Coordinate with clients and internal stakeholders on project requirements.
• Support research and development initiatives and drive continuous improvement of workflows.

Required profile

• Strong background in quality control and regulatory compliance.
• Hands‑on experience with laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
• Proven analytical skills for data interpretation, problem solving and result validation.
• Experience analysing gold, silver, precious metals and heavy metals.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
• Previous experience in laboratory management or supervisory roles preferred.
