Marketing Director – Remote (Sub‑Saharan Africa)

About the role

OpenFn is seeking a Marketing Director to shape and grow its brand across governments, implementation partners and funders in the Digital Public Infrastructure and Digital Public Goods ecosystem. Based remotely in Sub‑Saharan Africa, you will lead both online and in‑person brand initiatives that drive qualified leads and showcase the social impact of the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve OpenFn’s brand positioning for three core audiences: governments, implementation partners and funders.
• Maintain and evolve the OpenFn website – messaging, structure, content and conversion paths – using provided LLM and coding tools.
• Develop and enforce brand guidelines, ensuring all team‑generated content stays on‑brand and consistent.
• Craft and execute marketing campaigns that generate inbound, qualified leads for the Growth unit.
• Collaborate with product, sales and partnership teams to align messaging with market needs.
• Travel 10‑15% of the time for events, partner meetings and stakeholder engagements.

Required profile

• Based in Sub‑Saharan Africa with a remote‑first work style.
• Proven experience leading marketing strategy for B2G or public‑sector audiences.
• Fluent in English; additional French or Spanish language skills are preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to show clear return on investment for marketing activities.

Required skills

• LLM (Claude) for content generation and agentic coding.
• Website CMS management and optimization.
