Communications & Documentation Intern

About the role

Operation Smile Ethiopia is seeking a Communications & Documentation Intern to support the documentation and communication of its cleft care programs across partner hospitals. Working from the Addis Ababa head office, you will collaborate with program teams to capture best practices, create compelling stories, and share results on social media.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a documentation strategy for surgical, non‑surgical, and educational activities.
• Work closely with program coordinators in Jimma, Ayder, St. Paul’s and Hawassa to gather case stories, photos and videos.
• Document short‑term surgical programs, training workshops and hospital investments, producing bulletins and short videos.
• Prepare regular updates, summary messages and social‑media posts for Facebook and LinkedIn.
• Coordinate with the Sub‑Saharan Africa Communication Manager to amplify key successes.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Program Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, public relations, media studies, linguistics, social science or health sciences.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with teams across multiple locations.

Required skills

• Video production (capturing and editing short videos).
• Photography for documenting program activities.
• Social‑media management (Facebook, LinkedIn).
