Peacebuilding Assistant

About the role

The Peacebuilding Assistant will support the Danish Refugee Council’s peacebuilding initiatives in the Assosa field office, contributing to conflict prevention, community engagement and capacity‑building activities.

The role works closely with the Peacebuilding Officer to facilitate dialogue, organise workshops and assist community‑led peace efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Peacebuilding Officer in implementing peacebuilding project activities at the community level.
• Support the establishment of peacebuilding committees and organise workshops, inclusive dialogue forums and training sessions for community stakeholders.
• Contribute to participatory conflict and conflict‑sensitivity analyses through community consultations.
• Maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including community leaders, local authorities and partners.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for project activities, including organising meetings and preparing materials.
• Assist in capacity‑building of peacebuilding committees, including women, youth, IDPs, returnees and host community representatives.
• Ensure proper filing and record‑keeping of all project‑related documents.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Peacebuilding Officer.

Required profile

• BSc or LLB degree in Law, Peace Studies, Conflict Management, Social Studies or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year professional experience in conflict and peacebuilding.
• Ability to work in difficult and insecure environments.
• Strong teamwork, communication and coordination abilities.
• Self‑motivated with the capacity to work with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy.
