Project Associate – Reintegration (Jimma, Ethiopia)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking two Project Associates to support reintegration activities in the Jimma zone, Oromia region, Ethiopia. The role focuses on assisting returnees in achieving sustainable economic, social and psychosocial reintegration, in line with the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct assistance to returnees and coordinate with local authorities, community leaders and service providers.
• Monitor and follow‑up on reintegration cases to ensure timely referral to livelihood, health and psychosocial services.
• Collect and analyse data on reintegration outcomes and report findings to the Programme Officer (Return and Reintegration).
• Support the implementation of community‑based reintegration initiatives and link beneficiaries to local market opportunities.
• Contribute to the development of reintegration plans, tools and standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., social sciences, development studies, economics or related fields).
• Experience working with vulnerable migrant populations, returnees or in humanitarian programmes is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work in multicultural settings.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Afaan Oromo, Amharic) is an asset.
