Rapid Pro Technical Consultant – Design, Deployment & Testing

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Rapid Pro Technical Consultant to design, deploy and test an emergency education data collection system in Ethiopia. The four‑month, office‑based assignment will support the Ministry of Education in establishing a robust, government‑aligned platform.

Key responsibilities

• Support the overall design of a RapidPro‑based data collection system, defining data flows from schools to federal levels and ensuring alignment with existing EMIS and approval workflows.
• Develop data governance arrangements, including validation approaches, privacy protocols, access controls and accountability mechanisms for sensitive emergency data.
• Provide technical support to set up RapidPro within the Ministry of Education’s infrastructure, preparing servers, installing the platform, and configuring security, databases and user access.
• Lead configuration and customization of RapidPro, integrating it with the national EMIS, creating questionnaires, automated messaging, response logic and validation rules.
• Integrate the platform with Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and visualization.
• Collaborate with Ethio Telecom to configure, route and test the SMS gateway for reliable message delivery.
• Conduct pilot testing, gather feedback and refine the system before full rollout.

Required profile

• Works under the supervision of the Cluster Coordinator.
• Office‑based in Addis Ababa for the contract duration.
