Senior Programme Coordinator – Ethiopia (National)

About the role

The Senior Programme Coordinator will lead Johanniter’s operations in Ethiopia, reporting to the Country Director in Kenya. This national position expands Johanniter’s presence, manages relationships with Ethiopian authorities, donors, UN agencies, INGOs and local NGOs, and drives fundraising and programme development.

Key responsibilities

• Represent Johanniter with government bodies, UN agencies, INGOs, local NGOs and donors, ensuring compliance with Ethiopian regulations.
• Identify and develop new programme opportunities through needs and partner assessments.
• Lead the preparation of project proposals and coordinate fundraising activities.
• Recruit, supervise and support project staff and partners, ensuring timely reporting to donors and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor humanitarian developments, coordinate emergency response, and maintain regular communication with the Kenya Country Office and Regional Team.
• Contribute to the implementation of country, regional and global strategies and promote an inclusive organisational culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience in programme coordination or management within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong knowledge of the Ethiopian humanitarian landscape and donor environment.
• Excellent communication and networking skills with a track record of building partnerships.
• Ability to lead teams, manage multiple stakeholders and deliver results under tight deadlines.
