Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Gabaa-place is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain the core systems behind its Telegram Mini App. This full‑time, on‑site position in Addis Ababa will work closely with product, design, and operations teams to deliver scalable back‑end solutions and ensure high reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement software architectures for the Telegram Mini App and supporting services.
• Develop new features, refactor existing code, and optimise performance.
• Write automated tests and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality.
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot incidents, and improve system reliability.
• Collaborate on technical strategy, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms.
• Proven experience delivering production‑ready back‑end applications.
• Experience in high‑growth or startup environments building scalable, secure, high‑availability systems.
• Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
