Sociologist - Social Safeguard Consultant

About the role

China Rail Transit Engineering Consultancy (CRTEC) is seeking an experienced sociologist to provide consulting services for the review and preparation of the Design, Construction Management System (CMS) and Maintenance Management System (MMS) Manual. The work covers public consultation and social impact assessment guidance, and the duty station is Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with possible field visits.

Key responsibilities

• Act as lead author for the Public Consultation and Social Impact Assessment guideline
• Review and prepare the CMS and MMS manual
• Contribute to social safeguard policy, strategy, manuals and guidelines

Required profile

• MSc degree in Sociology or a related field
• 18 years of general experience in sociological activities
• Experience in social impact assessment of roads and/or Resettlement Action Plans (10 projects)
• Experience preparing public consultation and social safeguard policy, strategy, manuals and guidelines (2 manuals/guidelines)
• International experience of at least 3 countries
