Team Leader – API Integration & AI Platform

About the role

We are seeking a Team Leader to drive the design, development and maintenance of APIs and integration services for our banking ecosystem. The role spans the AI, NLP, Machine Learning and Chatbot teams, ensuring seamless connectivity between core banking systems, digital channels, payment switches and partner platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs following best practices for performance, scalability and reliability.
• Implement API security standards such as OAuth2, JWT, rate limiting and encryption.
• Build and sustain integrations with core banking, digital channels, payment switches and external partners using synchronous APIs, asynchronous messaging and event‑driven architectures.
• Monitor API performance, availability and usage with API management and observability tools, proactively addressing issues.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, collaborate with product owners, backend developers and other stakeholders to define integration requirements and ensure alignment.
• Stay current on API design patterns, integration technologies and industry trends, bringing innovative ideas to improve integration capabilities.

Required profile

• First Degree or Masters in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10 years (or 8 years with a Masters) of relevant experience, including 4 years (or 3 years) in a managerial position.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to guide cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Expert‑level JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.
• Deep hands‑on experience with Angular (components, RxJS, state management, routing, DI).
• Strong experience with React (hooks, component composition, Redux/Context/Zustand).
• Proficiency in server‑side rendering / static site generation, routing, API routes, performance optimisation and SEO.
• Hands‑on Flutter/Dart for cross‑platform mobile development.
• Design of consistent UI/UX components across web and mobile, responsive/adaptive design, WCAG accessibility.
• Expertise in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, OAuth2, JWT, rate limiting, encryption and API security.
• Experience with API management platforms, observability tools, asynchronous messaging and event‑driven architectures.
