Accountability Officer (Internship)

About the role

The Accountability Officer internship will support the design and operation of community feedback and complaint mechanisms, ensuring transparent and inclusive project delivery in emergency contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain community feedback and complaint response channels using the digital accountability platform (DAP).
• Record, monitor, and follow up on feedback and complaints, ensuring timely closure in the DAP system.
• Provide orientation and coaching to community structures and project staff on accountability principles and complaint handling.
• Collaborate with project, MEAL, and government partners to analyse feedback and inform program improvements.
• Identify and refer sensitive cases (safeguarding, PSEA, fraud, child protection) through established referral pathways.

Required profile

• University degree in sociology, social work, social science, monitoring & data management or related field.
• 2‑3 years field‑based experience with Accountability and MEAL activities in emergency settings.
• Proven experience establishing functional accountability systems for large‑scale humanitarian programmes.

Required skills

• Mobile data collection using Kobo, CommCare, or ODK Collect.
• Designing and reporting on mixed‑methodology surveys.
