Clinical Nurse – Health & Nutrition Program

About the role

The Clinical Nurse will lead the technical quality of the Outpatient Therapeutic Programme (OTP) and Stabilisation Centre (SC) in the Mustahil, Kelafo, Fer‑Fer Woredas of the Shebelle Zone. Working closely with the Woreda Health Office, the role focuses on community‑based management of acute malnutrition and strengthening nutrition services.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor daily, weekly and monthly OTP/SC activities in collaboration with government health structures.
• Provide on‑the‑job training for Health Extension Workers and community health volunteers on severe acute malnutrition case management.
• Ensure admitted children receive appropriate clinical and nutritional care, maintaining adequate supplies of therapeutic foods and medicines.
• Strengthen linkages between community health workers and the Woreda health bureau, promoting early referral mechanisms.
• Plan, execute, and report on project protocols to achieve nutrition targets.
• Support awareness‑raising activities on nutrition and preventive health care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in community health and nutrition programmes.
• Familiarity with OTP, SC and Community‑Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) guidelines.
• Ability to train and supervise health extension workers and volunteers.
• Strong commitment to child safeguarding and adherence to vetting procedures.
