Community Development Worker – Landscape Restoration

About the role

The Community Development Worker will support field‑level implementation of landscape restoration and livelihood interventions in Kamba Zuria and One for Zalla woredas. Working closely with district and village stakeholders, you will help vulnerable communities restore degraded communal lands and develop sustainable income sources.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and delineate degraded communal lands in partnership with local administration and community leaders.
• Register vulnerable community groups and beneficiaries for restoration and livelihood projects.
• Support production, transportation, and planting of fruit and multi‑purpose tree seedlings in government, group and individual nurseries.
• Assist project officers and government experts in baseline and end‑line data collection, encoding, and analysis.
• Facilitate capacity‑building trainings for communities and stakeholders.
• Provide technical support for restoration activities, soil‑and‑water‑conservation (SWC), silvicultural management, and FMNR practices.
• Conduct periodic progress assessments, identify gaps, and report findings to project officers and community task forces.
• Maintain continuous follow‑up on communal restoration sites and agroforestry plots, mobilising community participation.

Required profile

• Degree in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Community Development, Cooperative Development or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of field‑level experience in landscape restoration, agroforestry, FMNR, or rural livelihood development.
• Experience organising community groups and collecting field data in a rural context.
• Local familiarity with the project area and ability to operate a motorcycle.
