Compliance and Systems Director – Ethiopia

About the role

The Compliance and Systems Director will join the senior management team in Addis Ababa, leading People in Need’s compliance agenda and overseeing the core support functions of logistics, procurement, finance and human resources. The role ensures that all donor requirements and internal policies are correctly interpreted, applied and monitored across the Ethiopia programme.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance and oversight on compliance with donor contracts, internal procedures and external regulations.
• Develop, implement and monitor policies for procurement, finance, logistics and HR to ensure efficiency and risk mitigation.
• Coordinate with the Country Director and programme leads to align compliance activities with operational priorities.
• Prepare and submit regular compliance reports to donors and senior management.
• Lead training and capacity‑building initiatives for staff on compliance and systems processes.
• Continuously improve support systems and tools to enhance programme delivery.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in compliance, finance, procurement or HR within humanitarian or development organisations.
• Strong knowledge of donor regulations (e.g., EU, USAID, UN agencies) and ability to interpret contractual requirements.
• Proven leadership skills and experience working at senior management level.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local context in Ethiopia is an advantage.
