Country Manager – Ethiopia

About the role

DHL is seeking an experienced Country Manager to lead its operations in Ethiopia. The role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on management to ensure service excellence, market growth, and financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Drive service performance that exceeds customer expectations and differentiates DHL from competitors.
• Maintain and grow relationships with key customers, ensuring retention and new‑business development.
• Represent DHL positively with customers, partners, industry bodies, trade unions, and government regulators.
• Deliver on the annual business plan, monitoring revenue, cash flow, profit, and service levels.
• Develop and execute local tactical plans aligned with regional and global strategies.
• Provide strong leadership, communicate goals, and ensure effective implementation.
• Monitor market trends and competitor actions, adjusting strategies accordingly.
• Continuously improve business processes to boost productivity and add value.
• Oversee financial health, liquidity, and legal compliance.
• Plan corrective actions to improve service and transit times while managing costs.
• Define organization structure, roles, and performance targets.
• Allocate resources and staff to meet global, regional, and country objectives.

Required profile

• University degree with relevant commercial or business qualifications.
• Significant senior or general management experience in express, logistics, aviation, or similar service industries.
• Broad understanding of all functional business areas and proven P&L responsibility for a comparable sized entity.
• High business acumen and awareness of the external economic environment.
