Data Analysis Intern – African Centre for Statistics

About the role

The African Centre for Statistics (ACS) at the Economic Commission for Africa is seeking a motivated Data Analysis Intern to support its mission of improving statistical data production and use across the continent. Working directly with the Centre's Director, you will contribute to data compilation, analysis, and the development of tools that aid evidence‑based policymaking.

Key responsibilities

• Profile emerging data sources and assess their suitability for filling data gaps.
• Compile and harmonise metadata from national and international statistical portals.
• Support the comparability of African development indicators across multiple databases.
• Assist in creating statistical tools that automate analytical workflows.
• Provide insights on modern visualisation techniques for statistical results.
• Prepare concise statistical summaries, including methodology notes and key findings.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate‑level programme (second university degree or equivalent).
• Strong interest in statistics, economic data, and development indicators.
• Ability to work independently under the direct supervision of the ACS Director.
