Driver, G-2, Fixed Term - UNICEF Ethiopia

About the role

UNICEF Ethiopia is recruiting a G-2 Driver for a fixed-term appointment based in Addis Ababa. The driver provides safe and reliable driving services for UNICEF staff, visitors and consultants, including transport to remote field locations, and complies with local driving rules and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely transport of staff, visitors, consultants and goods, including airport pickups and basic protocol assistance.
• Adhere to traffic regulations and UNICEF safety standards.
• Carry out routine vehicle inspections, coordinate servicing and repairs, and keep vehicles clean, secure and supplied.
• Use vehicle tracking systems (VTS), the UN Mobility Tool and other digital platforms for fleet operations, trip information and routing.
• Maintain vehicle records (mileage, fuel, trips, service history) and submit transport and fleet reports on time.
• Stay in contact during field movements, follow emergency response and incident-reporting procedures, and support safe operations with UNDSS and field teams.
• During idle periods, complete mandatory learning and compliance requirements, handle mail and documents, and attend team meetings and safety briefings.

Required profile

• Secondary education in any related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in transportation, fleet management, road safety or related fields.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
• First aid certification and experience with vehicle tracking systems are strong assets.
• Experience at country level in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is an advantage.
