Driver

About the role

SNV, a global development partner active in agri-food, energy and water systems, is looking for a driver in Adama. The driver transports staff, visitors and errands safely and on time, coordinates fleet management and keeps vehicles maintained. The contract is national, full-time, for one year with possible extension depending on performance and budget, starting 1 December 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Take care of the car: keep it clean and fueled, check inventory (first aid kit, spare tire, etc.) and the vehicle status, report damage to the supervisor, and keep track of periodic service schedules and insurance.
• Drive passengers or deliver errands within the assigned areas, following traffic regulations and safety instructions.
• Check regularly the main maintenance areas (oil, tire pressure, etc.), identify faults, try simple repairs or arrange repairs with the supervisor for complex or costly ones.
• Keep a logbook of driving activities, fuel and incidents or accidents, and make sure vehicle insurances and taxes are up to date.
• Pick up and deliver messages, documents and packages between offices, departments or external businesses.
• Support colleagues with logistics tasks when asked.
• Plan transport, coordinate drivers, contact and contract suppliers and garages, ensure valid fleet insurance and check that all drivers hold valid licenses.

Required profile

• 12th or 10th grade completed and at least five years of experience as a driver.
• Renewed and valid driving license at category 3.
• Diploma in auto mechanics is an advantage.
• Experience in an INGO environment is preferable.
• Reliable, punctual, committed and self-motivated.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of vehicles and basic maintenance.
• Competencies: accountability, stress resistance, adaptability and client orientation.
