Procurement Head - Local Procurement

About the role

Sika, a specialty chemicals company serving the building and automotive sectors, is hiring a Procurement Head for its local procurement function in Addis Ababa. The role covers goods and services directly consumed in manufacturing, sits under the Supply Chain and Procurement Manager, and is based at the Sika City Office or Factory Office.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure on-time delivery of direct materials by monitoring stock levels and coordinating with production and warehouse teams, and expand the direct material supplier base to avoid single sourcing.
• Negotiate prices with suppliers, manage long-term agreements and advance payments, and handle RFQs, purchase evaluations, purchase orders and payment requests.
• Manage logistics for locally sourced materials, collect and submit invoices and GRNs, and coordinate timely supplier payments with Finance.
• Conduct supplier audits, ensure suppliers sign the Sika Supplier Code of Conduct, and take part in criticality assessments and risk mitigation plans.
• Initiate and run cost-saving and process-improvement projects, and manage, train and evaluate Procurement Assistants (trainees) and Junior Officers.
• Develop the local procurement operational budget, update weekly trackers, and submit monthly reports on price trends, plan vs actual, outstanding payments and the procurement pipeline.
• Maintain an up-to-date local procurement database, communicate internally and escalate issues to the manager, and comply with safety, EHS and PPE requirements.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Supply Chain and Procurement or a related field with 3 years of relevant experience, including 1 year in a supervisory role; or Bachelor's degree with 4 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in a manufacturing company is required.
• Regular, on-time attendance; overtime and possible overseas travel may be required.
