Education Project Manager - Jigjiga

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking an experienced Education Project Manager for its Jigjiga Area Office in Ethiopia. The role leads the planning, design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of education programmes across the Somali Region, from emergency education responses to formal, non-formal and transitional education, including TVET. It is open to Ethiopian nationals only.

Key responsibilities

• Lead education programmes with Area Office leadership, the Country Office Education team, local authorities, partners and other stakeholders, delivering inclusive, accountable programmes that meet NRC standards and donor requirements.
• Identify emerging education needs and develop project proposals, overseeing emergency and longer-term interventions that expand access to quality learning for refugees, IDPs, returnees and vulnerable children and youth.
• Contribute to resource mobilization, proposal development, budget management, staff coaching and strengthening safe, child-friendly, inclusive learning environments.

Required profile

• Master's degree in education planning and management (EDPM), Curriculum Studies, Educational Psychology, Education in Emergencies or a related field.
• At least five years of relevant education-sector experience, preferably in humanitarian, emergency or recovery contexts, including a minimum of three years in project management or an equivalent leadership role.
• Extensive experience implementing emergency education responses, formal and non-formal programmes and TVET in Ethiopia, in complex and volatile contexts.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of the Ethiopian context and the education sector; familiarity with education minimum standards.
• Proficiency in Somali is an added value.
