Education Project Manager - Jigjiga

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking an experienced Education Project Manager for its Jigjiga Area Office in Ethiopia. The role leads the planning, design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of education programmes across the Somali Region, from emergency education responses to formal, non-formal and transitional education, including TVET. It is open to Ethiopian nationals only.

Key responsibilities

• Lead education programmes that meet NRC standards, donor requirements and the needs of crisis-affected communities, working with area office leadership, the country office education team, local authorities and partners.
• Ensure inclusive, accountable delivery of education and strengthen safe, child-friendly, inclusive learning environments.
• Take part in resource mobilization, proposal development and budget management, and coach staff.
• Identify emerging education needs and oversee emergency and longer-term interventions that improve outcomes for refugees, IDPs, returnees and vulnerable host-community children and youth.

Required profile

• Master's degree in education planning and management (EDPM), Curriculum Studies, Educational Psychology, Education in Emergencies or a related field.
• At least five years of relevant education-sector experience, preferably humanitarian, emergency or recovery, including a minimum of three years in project management or an equivalent leadership role.
• Extensive experience implementing emergency education, formal and non-formal education and TVET programmes in Ethiopia, in complex and volatile contexts.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of the Ethiopian context and the education sector; familiarity with education minimum standards.
• Strong communication, analytical and project management skills; documented results for the position.
• Proficiency in Somali is an added value.

What we offer

• Duty station: Jigjiga, Ethiopia.
• Contract of 12 months, with travel of up to 60%.
• Salary at grade 8 on NRC's resident salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
