Education Project Manager - Jigjiga

About the role

NRC Ethiopia is seeking an experienced Education Project Manager for its Jigjiga Area Office. The role leads the planning, design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of education programmes across the Somali Region, from emergency education responses to formal, non-formal and transitional education, including TVET. It is open to Ethiopian nationals only.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Area Office leadership, the Country Office Education team, local authorities, consortium partners and other stakeholders to deliver inclusive, accountable education programmes meeting NRC standards and donor requirements.
• Identify emerging education needs and develop project proposals, then oversee emergency and longer-term education interventions.
• Contribute to resource mobilization, proposal development and budget management.
• Coach staff and strengthen safe, child-friendly and inclusive learning environments.
• Improve educational outcomes for refugees, IDPs, returnees and vulnerable host-community children and youth.

Required profile

• Master's degree in education planning and management (EDPM), Curriculum Studies, Educational Psychology, Education in Emergencies or a related field.
• At least five years of relevant education-sector experience, preferably humanitarian, emergency response or recovery, including a minimum of three years in project management or an equivalent leadership role.
• Extensive experience implementing emergency education responses, formal and non-formal programmes and TVET in Ethiopia, in complex and volatile contexts.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of the Ethiopian context and the education sector; familiarity with education minimum standards.
• Strong communication, analytical and project management skills; proficiency in Somali is an added value.

What we offer

• Duty station: Jigjiga, Ethiopia.
• Contract of 12 months, with travel of up to 60%.
• Salary at grade 8 on NRC's Resident salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
