Electro Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Electro Mechanical Engineer will work full‑time on‑site in Addis Ababa, designing, developing and maintaining electro‑mechanical systems for Synertech’s technology infrastructure projects. The role involves calculations, simulations, technical drawings, inspections, testing and troubleshooting of both electrical and mechanical components.

Key responsibilities

• Design, supervise, install, test and commission HVAC systems for conference halls, auditoriums, meeting rooms and commercial facilities.
• Conduct site surveys, perform HVAC capacity calculations and define equipment requirements.
• Collaborate with architectural, electrical, ICT, AV and civil teams to create integrated solutions.
• Select and specify AC units, VRF/VRV systems, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation and exhaust equipment.
• Prepare BOQs, technical specifications, equipment schedules and installation requirements.
• Supervise contractors and technicians, perform testing, balancing, commissioning, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations and project specifications.
• Support business development and presales with technical site assessments and customer presentations.

Required profile

• BSc in Mechanical, Electro‑Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of practical experience in HVAC design, installation, commissioning and maintenance.
• Hands‑on experience with commercial HVAC systems in large facilities such as conference halls, auditoriums, hotels or hospitals.
• Strong ability to read and interpret MEP, HVAC and architectural drawings.
• Proven experience preparing BOQs and technical specifications.

Required skills

• HVAC load calculations, ventilation, ducting, chilled water, VRF/VRV and air distribution.
• Selection and specification of AC units, chillers, AHUs, FCUs and exhaust systems.
• Preparation of BOQs, technical specifications and equipment schedules.
• Interpretation of MEP, HVAC and electrical drawings.
• Use of CAD and simulation/analysis software.
• Electromechanical integration, troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
