Finance Officer – Ethiopia

About the role

The Finance Officer will support the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory regulations, and safeguarding the organization’s financial health.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in administering and monitoring the financial system to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Implement and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and risk‑management procedures.
• Manage company assets, authorise payments, and ensure payroll and reimbursements are processed correctly.
• Prepare and share sales invoices, analyse margins, and compare results with budget.
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, and perform regular bank and payment reconciliations.
• Process statutory payments (PAYE, VAT, corporate tax, etc.) and maintain an orderly filing system.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and periodic financial management reports and support balance‑sheet schedules.
• Develop cash‑flow forecasts, working‑capital plans and assist in budget preparation.
• Maintain vendor registers, general ledger reconciliations and ensure security of company cheques.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
• 2‑3 years of financial management experience, preferably in retail or FMCG.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and local statutory legislation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and an accounting software package.
