Food Assistance Officer

About the role

World Vision is seeking a Food Assistance Officer to manage the planning, delivery, and monitoring of food, non‑food commodities and cash assistance for vulnerable communities in Ethiopia. The role ensures efficient distribution, accurate documentation and strong coordination with partners such as RRS, WFP and UNHCR.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee commodity and cash management, ensuring accurate accounting and reporting of all items.
• Prepare and obtain approval for distribution plans to support efficient field operations.
• Separate and dispose of damaged or unfit commodities in accordance with authorized procedures.
• Implement, monitor and report on the Last Mile Mobile Solution Item Tracking System (LMMS‑ITS) for donor compliance.
• Conduct spot checks of Final Distribution Points, maintain equipment, and perform physical inventories.
• Consolidate daily and monthly distribution reports, conduct monitoring visits and document project impact on child wellbeing.
• Supervise Commodity Officers, Distribution Food Supervisors, casual distributors and incentive workers.

Required profile

• Experience in commodity or cash assistance management within humanitarian or development programmes.
• Ability to work closely with multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, UN partners and refugee leadership structures.
• Strong organizational skills to ensure timely distribution and accurate documentation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the LMMS‑ITS tracking system.
