Head of Operations for Ethiopia

About the role

The Head of Operations (HoO) joins the senior management team of People in Need’s Ethiopia programme. Reporting to the Country Director and technically to the Regional Head of Systems and Operations, the HoO is responsible for ensuring that logistics, procurement and related support systems enable effective programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and represent People in Need to donors, authorities and partners.
• Manage and develop the Logistics and Procurement teams, ensuring adequate staffing, capacity building and compliance with donor rules.
• Oversee logistics budgets, asset registry, inventory control, fleet planning and cost monitoring.
• Implement and audit procurement processes, update CP Procurement Guidelines and mitigate corruption risks.
• Ensure systems and operations align with the country programme strategy and accountability requirements.

Required profile

• Significant senior‑level experience in operations, logistics or procurement within an NGO or humanitarian setting.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage budgets.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, anti‑corruption measures and accountability standards.
• Excellent communication skills for representation with external stakeholders.
