Health & Nutrition Coordinator - Habru Woreda

About the role

The Health & Nutrition Coordinator leads field-level coordination and technical delivery of a Japan Platform-funded project in Habru Woreda, North Wollo Zone, Ethiopia, which aims to improve access to essential health and nutrition services and strengthen the resilience of local health systems during humanitarian crises. Based in Woldia, the post reports to the Health, Nutrition & WASH Program Manager and covers four components: restoration of primary health care services, emergency nutrition, health-system strengthening and community-based systems and engagement. It involves one Mobile Health and Nutrition Team (MHNT), 14 outreach sites, OTP and Stabilization Centre services and community platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the 12-month implementation plan aligned with the approved proposal, logframe, schedule, budget and donor requirements, and ensure monthly and quarterly deliverables are met on time
• Coordinate implementation across supported facilities, outreach sites, the MHNT, OTP/SC sites and community platforms, with catchment mapping, workplans, referral pathways and supervision schedules
• Supervise and coach project staff and oversee the four-person MHNT, maintaining movement, supervision and performance plans
• Support health centres and monthly outreach sites for integrated PHC and RMNCH services, including OPD, ANC, PNC, immunization, child health, nutrition screening, health education and referral
• Ensure the MHNT delivers integrated adult and under-five consultations, RMNCH, nutrition, MHPSS and first-line GBV support or referral
• Coordinate emergency nutrition: monthly MUAC screening and referral, Family MUAC in priority areas, support to OTPs and Stabilization Centres, and monitoring of SAM outcomes
• Lead the first-month facility gap analysis and coordinate the support package for 34 facilities (7 health centres, 26 health posts, 1 referral hospital)
• Coordinate procurement and distribution of medicines, consumables, equipment, nutrition commodities, PPE and IPC materials, and strengthen stock monitoring and last-mile delivery
• Coordinate minor facility rehabilitation, training and mentorship, and strengthen HMIS/DHIS2 functionality
• Monitor cholera, measles, malaria, scabies and other epidemic alerts, coordinate PHEM training, preparedness planning, simulation exercises and Rapid Response Team readiness
• Represent the project in Habru Woreda and North Wollo coordination platforms, including PHEM and Health and Nutrition forums
• Work with MEAL, supply chain, finance, safeguarding, construction/WASH, security and technical teams, and comply with the SCI fraud, bribery and corruption policy
