ICT Specialist 2

About the role

The ICRC is looking for an ICT Specialist 2 to manage and organize all ICT systems and services in the location where the post is held, and to assist the ICT Manager in designing and installing ICT infrastructure. The role is national/resident, open only to Ethiopian nationals, at 100% working rate, on a 6-month fixed-term contract in Mekele.

Key responsibilities

• Keep ICT inventory up to date, maintain adequate stock levels and carry out regular physical checks
• Ensure existing ICT infrastructure is functional and that global and country-level policies and procedures are followed
• Brief, advise and train end-users on the ICRC's ICT systems
• Draft and update technical documentation for all IT equipment
• Plan, deploy and allocate ICT equipment such as computers, network gear, printers, PABX, telecom materials and radios; maintain and administer a materials park
• Maintain and exploit existing systems mainly independently, and provide training and support to users
• Handle Level 2 ICT service requests within the delegation and sub-delegation offices, in collaboration with other support teams
• Carry out the duties of ICT Specialist 1 when absent, and may be asked to manage and train ICT teams
• Share information on humanitarian trends and represent the ICRC appropriately in meetings and in the field

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, electronics, computer science or a similar field
• Good spoken and written English and Tigrigna
• 3-4 years of troubleshooting experience in an ICT service area (e.g. workplace services, telecommunications, IT, help desk)
• 1 year of people-management experience is a strong asset
