Intern – Climate Change, Food Security & Natural Resources

About the role

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is looking for motivated interns to support the Climate Change, Food Security & Natural Resources Division. Interns will contribute to research, policy development, and event organization, including preparations for COP32 in Addis Ababa.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in research on climate‑related themes and policy options.
• Draft, edit, and proofread publications, briefs, and other documents.
• Maintain and update division databases.
• Track project negotiations and implementation progress.
• Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and outreach events.
• Help prepare materials and logistics for COP32.
• Participate in day‑to‑day operational tasks, including presentation development and liaison with partner organisations.
• Perform administrative duties such as taking minutes and handling correspondence.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree (minimum bachelor’s level).
• Strong academic background in climate change, policy, development, international relations or related fields.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of French is desirable.
• Willingness to reside in Addis Ababa for the 3‑month internship period.
