IYCF Officer – Goljano & Harshin (Female)

About the role

The IYCF Officer will support Save the Children’s emergency programmes in the Somali region, focusing on accountability to beneficiaries and empowering communities. Working closely with the MEAL Coordinator and project staff, the officer will establish and maintain accountability mechanisms and ensure high‑quality nutrition services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage implementation of the IYCF nutrition programme in line with SCI and national standards, including admission, discharge criteria and anthropometric monitoring.
• Facilitate training for health‑center staff, community counselors and volunteers on IYCF practices and provide on‑the‑job capacity building.
• Establish and strengthen mother‑to‑mother support groups and breastfeeding counselling (BFC) at targeted health facilities.
• Conduct formative assessments, develop culturally appropriate IEC materials, and ensure availability of job aids and reporting tools.
• Maintain relationships with local health authorities, integrate IYCF activities into existing health structures, and report progress to senior officers.

Required profile

• BSc or College Diploma in Nursing or related health field.
• Minimum four years of relevant experience, including at least two years in an NGO setting.
• Experience in nutrition and health programme implementation, data collection, and training of health workers.
• Fluency in the local language and ability to work in remote, potentially insecure environments.
