Legal Counsel – Attorney (Addis Ababa)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Legal Counsel – Attorney to provide comprehensive legal advice and representation to private clients in Addis Ababa. The role involves handling contracts, property matters, and a variety of business‑related issues under Ethiopian law.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyse applicable Ethiopian statutes, regulations and case law.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
• Provide clear, practical legal advice on risks, rights and obligations.
• Prepare case files, pleadings and correspondence for court proceedings.
• Liaise with courts, government offices and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with specialists and other professionals as required.

Required profile

• Law degree from an accredited institution and a valid Ethiopian attorney licence.
• Proven experience handling diverse legal issues for individual and family clients, preferably in Addis Ababa.
• Proactive, assertive attitude with strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Amharic and English.

Required skills

• Contract negotiation and drafting.
• Legal document preparation (contracts, opinions, pleadings, correspondence).
• Legal research and analysis of Ethiopian law.
• Fluency in Amharic.
• Fluency in English.
