Malaria Technical Advisor – REACH Malaria Ethiopia

About the role

PATH is seeking a Malaria Technical Advisor to lead technical implementation of the USG‑funded REACH Malaria project in Ethiopia. Reporting to the Chief of Party, the advisor will ensure high‑quality malaria services across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall technical backstop for the project, ensuring adherence to PMI guidance and global best practices.
• Coordinate with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health, national malaria program, and other partners to deliver case management, prevention of malaria in pregnancy, diagnostics, and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Lead and supervise technical teams, develop work plans, budgets, and performance reports.
• Participate in public‑health technical working groups and support policy, guideline, and training material development.

Required profile

• MD, Master’s degree or higher in public health, medical sciences or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of technical leadership in malaria control or related public‑health programs, with experience working with national malaria control programs and donor‑funded projects.
• Strong management, decision‑making, and interpersonal skills, with ability to work in complex, deadline‑driven environments.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in malaria case management, prevention of malaria in pregnancy (MiP), seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC), and surveillance.
• Experience with health‑systems strengthening, data collection, and data use for service delivery.
