Mechanic – Maintenance & Repair (Addis Ababa)

About the role

This full‑time on‑site mechanic position is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role focuses on routine and preventive maintenance of vehicles, machinery and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation within a fast‑paced FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and review work orders, drawings and manufacturer manuals for all planned activities.
• Prioritise jobs to maximise product quality and line intensity while adhering to the maintenance schedule.
• Negotiate plant or process shutdowns with relevant customers and obtain required permissions.
• Diagnose mechanical issues, conduct troubleshooting and perform corrective repairs.
• Inspect equipment, replace or adjust worn parts, and document all work performed.
• Provide timely feedback to planners and team leaders on schedule deviations and completed work.
• Investigate electrical/automation failures, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Minimum Level III/IV certificate or Diploma in Industrial/General Mechanic, Electrical or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician in the FMCG sector, preferably soap & detergent.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within defined safety procedures.
