Network Development Associate – Africa

About the role

The Network Development Associate based in Africa will strengthen engagement, communication and coordination across HelpAge’s global network. Working closely with the Network Platform Manager and regional advisers, the role supports member engagement, knowledge sharing and the effective use of the HelpAge Digital Portal.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen communication and coordination between HelpAge and network members across Africa, supporting knowledge sharing and peer learning.
• Provide administrative backend support for the HelpAge digital portal, including first‑line user assistance and content updates.
• Organise thematic sessions, webinars, peer‑learning events and cross‑network exchanges, and develop newsletters and other communications.
• Maintain accurate member information on HelpAge CONNECT (Salesforce) and SharePoint, and track engagement trends.
• Support regional meetings, webinars, the Africa Ageing Conference and other initiatives, including logistics, translation and documentation.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in regional or global network coordination, member engagement and event administration, preferably in international development or humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong written communication skills in English; additional UN or African Union languages are a plus.
• High level of discretion when handling sensitive information and experience working in cross‑cultural environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Salesforce (HelpAge CONNECT) and SharePoint.
• Familiarity with digital collaboration and data‑visualisation tools.
• Basic design and editing skills using Canva, WordPress and Mailchimp.
• Experience supporting online events, webinars and virtual meetings.
