Project Director

About the role

World Vision Ethiopia is seeking a Project Director to lead its multi‑sectoral emergency programme. The role provides strategic vision, ensures alignment with donor agreements and humanitarian principles, and oversees the delivery of lifesaving services across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Define and steer the overall strategy, annual and contingency planning for the emergency project.
• Maintain full accountability for programmatic, financial, compliance, safeguarding and risk performance.
• Chair senior management meetings and coordinate decisions across technical, operations, MEAL, finance and partner teams.
• Lead donor engagement, represent the project in national coordination mechanisms and advocate for humanitarian access.
• Oversee consortium and partnership management, ensuring compliance and building local capacity.
• Ensure robust quality‑assurance, monitoring, accountability and learning systems.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in large‑scale humanitarian or development programmes.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, safeguarding and risk management.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with governments, UN agencies and NGOs.
• Ability to make timely decisions in crisis situations and maintain service continuity.
