Project Manager

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of development projects in Gambella, Ethiopia. This full-time on-site position ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget while meeting donor and organisational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all project phases – planning, execution, monitoring, reporting (narrative and financial) – ensuring compliance with standards and donor requirements.
• Supervise and develop the project team, define roles, and enforce safeguarding policies.
• Manage relationships with local partners (NGOs, CBOs), build capacity, draft agreements and coordinate fundraising and representation activities.
• Collaborate with internal units to develop strategic plans, budgets and new initiatives aligned with organisational and donor strategies.
• Address implementation challenges, capture success stories and provide cross-functional operational support.
• Maintain project timelines, coordinate cross-functional teams, oversee logistics, track progress, ensure quality standards, and manage vendor interactions and inspections.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of project management experience in development or humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to plan, execute and monitor projects, including financial reporting and donor coordination.
• Strong knowledge of inspection processes and quality standards.
• Experience in logistics management and vendor coordination.
• Leadership, organisational and communication abilities with capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools.
• MA/MSc in social sciences, development studies or related field; relevant certifications are a plus.
• Experience working in Ethiopia or similar environments is advantageous.
