Proposal Development & Donor Positioning Consultant (Humanitarian)

About the role

Action Against Hunger Ethiopia seeks a seasoned Proposal Development and Donor Positioning Consultant to enhance the competitiveness of its funding proposals. The consultant will work across humanitarian, resilience, and development programmes, ensuring proposals align with donor expectations and strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Rewrite and strengthen concept notes, proposals, and expressions of interest using donor‑oriented language.
• Ensure alignment with donor priorities, technical guidance, compliance requirements, and scoring criteria.
• Improve clarity, coherence, flow, and strategic framing of all proposal documents.
• Strengthen theories of change, problem statements, results frameworks, and value propositions.
• Facilitate proposal design workshops and co‑creation sessions before drafts are produced.
• Lead or support drafting of proposals from inception through final submission.
• Integrate cross‑cutting themes such as climate resilience, localization, gender, nexus, innovation, and sustainability.
• Enhance executive summaries and overall strategic messaging.
• Provide rapid‑turnaround reviews during live proposal development cycles.

Required profile

• Highly experienced consultant with a proven track record in humanitarian and development proposal development.
• Deep understanding of donor landscapes, funding cycles, and compliance requirements.
• Strong strategic writing and editing skills, capable of shaping complex technical narratives.
• Ability to lead collaborative proposal design processes and work under tight deadlines.
