Protection Officer – Monitoring (Debark/Dabat, Ethiopia)

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council seeks a qualified Protection Officer to lead monitoring activities in Debark and Dabat, Ethiopia. Under the supervision of the Protection specialist and team leader, you will collect and analyse protection data, refer individuals at risk, and support community protection initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a work plan for protection monitoring in designated sites.
• Conduct monitoring visits, collect data using standardized tools (Key Information Interviews, Focus Group Discussions, observations) and encode information.
• Ensure activities follow international standards, best practices, and DRC guidelines.
• Support community workers in data collection and contribute to tool development and data analysis.
• Collaborate with the Protection manager and PIM specialist to review trends and recommend responses.
• Map services, facilitate referrals, and assist individuals with specific protection needs.
• Engage with partners to maintain referral mechanisms and raise community awareness on protection risks.
• Maintain regular communication with community groups and help develop action plans.

Required profile

• Qualified Protection Officer with experience in protection monitoring.
• Ability to work under technical supervision and collaborate with multi‑sectoral teams.
