Protection Officer – Monitoring

About the role

The Protection Officer (Monitoring) will support the Danish Refugee Council’s protection programme in Debark and Dabat, Ethiopia. Working under the technical supervision of the Protection Specialist and team leader, the officer will plan and conduct community‑based protection monitoring, collect and encode data, and refer individuals at risk to appropriate services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a work plan for protection monitoring activities in designated sites.
• Carry out monitoring visits according to international standards, DRC guidelines and the allocated budget.
• Contribute to the design and revision of monitoring tools and analyse collected information.
• Support community workers in data collection using Key Information Interviews, Focus Group Discussions and observation.
• Collaborate with the country PIM specialist to review protection trends and recommend responses.
• Map services and resources to ensure effective referrals and protection assistance.
• Identify individuals with specific needs and facilitate referrals to Individual Protection Assistance.
• Maintain referral mechanisms with partners and conduct community awareness on protection risks.
• Hold regular meetings with community groups to develop action plans addressing identified risks.
