Protection Team Leader

About the role

The Protection Team Leader will report to the Emergency Response Manager and oversee the design, implementation and quality of protection activities in the Humera field office. The role ensures that protection interventions, including GBV case management, psychosocial support and community‑based initiatives, are aligned with donor requirements, humanitarian principles and local needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with national and international protection standards.
• Lead the preparation of monthly protection reports and manage information hubs for referrals and assistance.
• Conduct multisectoral assessments, develop service mapping and referral pathways.
• Design and deliver protection training on topics such as PFA, gender‑sensitive approaches and peace‑building.
• Support program development, proposal writing and integration of gender‑inclusive strategies.
• Coordinate monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL) activities, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
• Collaborate with government authorities, local stakeholders and humanitarian partners.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in protection programming within humanitarian contexts.
• Strong understanding of GBV case management, psychosocial support and community‑based protection.
• Ability to lead teams, conduct assessments and produce high‑quality reports.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of protection standards and guidelines.
• Experience with protection monitoring and evaluation tools.
• Proficiency in developing training materials and delivering capacity‑building sessions.
