Ruby on Rails Developer

About the role

Yabx, a global FinTech venture, is looking for a passionate Ruby on Rails Engineer to join its office in Ethiopia. You will work on high‑volume financial services platforms, supporting both product development and production support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications and RESTful APIs using Ruby on Rails.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve complex production incidents affecting customers.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews and sprint planning.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Design and optimise database schemas, queries, and high‑volume data operations.
• Build automated test suites with RSpec and support background job processing.
• Work with DevOps during deployments, monitoring, and release activities.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of hands‑on Ruby on Rails development experience.
• Strong understanding of Ruby fundamentals and the Rails framework.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs in a FinTech or high‑traffic environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues, perform RCA, and improve system reliability.
