Sales and Marketing Manager

About the role

Chapa Financial Technologies is Ethiopia’s leading NBE‑licensed online payment gateway. The Sales and Marketing Manager will own both functions, turning strategy into commercial results by building pipelines, closing strategic merchants and partners, and growing the Chapa brand.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the annual sales strategy and pipeline across priority sectors such as government, enterprise, e‑commerce, remittance, healthcare, education, NGOs and emerging verticals.
• Lead acquisition of high‑value merchants and partners, personally closing strategic deals and managing forecasts and performance reporting.
• Grow existing accounts through cross‑sell and upsell initiatives.
• Own Chapa’s brand and marketing strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook and the web, producing content that showcases products, partnerships and milestones.
• Plan, run and analyse marketing campaigns, tracking leads, ROI and performance metrics.
• Monitor competitors and sector trends to inform positioning.
• Lead, coach and set targets for the sales and marketing team, building repeatable sales processes and qualification standards.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Finance, Compliance and Operations teams.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in sales, marketing or business development.
• 2+ years of experience managing a team.
• Proven track record of closing high‑value deals and running conversion‑focused campaigns.
• Fintech, banking, payments or technology background strongly preferred.
• Comfortable presenting to senior executives and government officials.
• Fluent in English and Amharic.
