Sales Officer

About the role

StarPay is seeking an energetic Sales Officer to drive merchant acquisition for its digital payment platform in Addis Ababa. The role is field‑based, focusing on onboarding new merchants, completing KYC, activating accounts and ensuring the first transaction is successful.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and approach potential merchants and persuade them to join the StarPay platform.
• Explain product features, payment channels and benefits clearly.
• Collect and verify all KYC documentation to ensure compliance.
• Activate merchant accounts and support the first successful transaction.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with assigned merchants and meet daily, weekly and monthly onboarding targets.
• Gather market feedback and competitor insights.
• Submit regular sales activity reports to the Sales Manager.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management or related field (preferred).
• 0‑1 year of sales experience, preferably in fintech, telecom, FMCG or field sales.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Comfortable with field work and target‑driven environments.
• High level of integrity and professionalism.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of digital payments, POS or mobile money.
• Proficiency with smartphones and mobile applications for onboarding.
