Senior Architect

About the role

Mugo Design and Build is seeking a Senior Architect to lead design initiatives for a range of projects across East Africa. Based in Addis Ababa, you will work on‑site, guiding concepts from initial sketches through detailed construction documentation while ensuring compliance with local regulations and design quality.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design proposals, space plans, and detailed architectural drawings.
• Coordinate with structural, MEP, and other consultants to integrate multidisciplinary inputs.
• Prepare complete sets of construction documents and specifications aligned with Ethiopian building codes.
• Conduct site visits to monitor implementation, resolve technical issues, and maintain design intent.
• Lead client meetings, present design solutions, and incorporate feedback.
• Mentor junior architects and designers, reviewing their work for quality and consistency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Professional registration or licensure is an advantage.
• Several years of architectural practice, including leadership on medium to large‑scale projects.
• Strong understanding of local and regional building regulations and sustainability principles.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
