Senior Lecturer – University Teaching & Research

About the role

Gambella University seeks a full‑time Senior Lecturer to join its faculty in the Gambela Region, Ethiopia. The successful candidate will design and deliver undergraduate (and where applicable, postgraduate) courses, mentor students, and contribute to the university’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver curricula, syllabi, and teaching materials for assigned courses.
• Facilitate lectures, seminars, practical sessions and supervise student projects or theses.
• Assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and advise on academic matters.
• Conduct scholarly research, publish findings, and present at conferences.
• Participate in curriculum development, departmental committees, and university initiatives.
• Engage in community outreach and service activities aligned with the university’s mission.

Required profile

• Advanced academic qualification (Master’s degree or PhD) in Agricultural Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Proven university‑level teaching experience, including course design and student assessment.
• Active research record with publications and conference participation.
• Strong pedagogical abilities and experience with diverse, community‑based learning approaches.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills within multidisciplinary environments.
• Willingness to work in a resource‑constrained, regional university setting.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
