Senior Programme Manager

About the role

Amref Health Africa is seeking a Senior Programme Manager to lead the implementation of its community‑based health workforce transformation programme in Ethiopia. The role translates strategic objectives into high‑quality, timely, and compliant delivery within the country’s primary health‑care system.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end leadership for programme delivery, ensuring alignment with Amref’s strategy and donor requirements.
• Act as the primary integrator across technical teams, finance, monitoring‑evaluation‑learning (MEL), grants, communications, consortium partners and government stakeholders.
• Oversee programme planning, budgeting, reporting and compliance to strengthen impact and health outcomes.
• Build local leadership capacity and sustain donor and community confidence through transparent governance.
• Facilitate the professionalisation of community health workers and creation of dignified employment pathways.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience managing large‑scale health or development programmes, preferably in Ethiopia or similar contexts.
• Strong track record of stakeholder engagement with government, NGOs and donor agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex budgets.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
