Senior Supply Assistant

About the role

The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is seeking a Senior Supply Assistant to lead the Shipping Unit within its Supply Chain Management Section. This position supports ECA’s mission to deliver ideas and actions for an empowered and transformed Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, monitor and supervise the Shipping Unit’s activities for import, export and personal shipments of staff.
• Advise on shipping, insurance and customs matters for Ethiopia and other countries.
• Act as the IPSAS focal point, troubleshoot issues and follow up on IPSAS enhancements.
• Maintain IPSAS entitlement reference tables and liaise with IPSAS teams at ECA and UNHQ.
• Demonstrate full knowledge of the ERP‑SAP Logistics module and manage inbound/outbound goods processes.
• Assign work programmes to Shipping Assistants and ensure duty‑free import/export of official goods, vehicles and personal effects.
• Prepare memoranda, letters and other correspondence related to shipping and customs.

Required profile

• Proven experience in logistics, shipping, customs and insurance administration.
• Strong understanding of IPSAS standards and their application in supply chain operations.
• Ability to supervise a team and coordinate complex shipment schedules.
