Utilities Operator

About the role

The Utilities Operator is responsible for the reliable operation and supply of essential utilities such as water, steam, CO₂ recovery, and compressed air within an industrial environment. The role ensures continuous production support while maintaining strict safety, hygiene, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and control pumps, fans, compressors and other utility equipment to guarantee uninterrupted supply.
• Report unsafe behaviors, conditions, near‑misses and lead investigations of high‑potential incidents.
• Perform routine checks, minor repairs, calibration of inline measuring instruments and vibration, pressure, blow‑down and lubrication monitoring.
• Maintain sanitation and hygiene standards, adhering to HACCP and other food‑safety requirements.
• Collect and register energy, water and other utility consumption data; manage work permits and installation handovers.
• Initiate breakdown analysis (BDA), root‑cause failure analysis (RCFA) and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Utilities Zone Technician, Utilities Manager and other departments to ensure efficient operations.
• Ensure standby equipment readiness, clean parts and tools, and maintain safety tags.

• Demonstrated ability to follow local, national and international safety and quality regulations.
• Experience working in a team‑oriented industrial setting and supporting cross‑functional collaboration.
• Commitment to ongoing safety training and promotion of a safety‑first culture.
• Attention to detail for accurate data recording and equipment readiness.
